DILG XI CONDUCT OF GENDER SENSITIVITY TRAINING CUM BAWAL BASTOS LAW, AWARENESS AND PREVENTION CAMPAIGNS ON STI, HIV, AND AIDS FOR CONTRACT OF SERVICE (COS) AND JOB ORDERS (JOs)
The DILG XI-Office of the Regional Director conductd Gender Sensitivity Training for Contract of Service (COs) and (JOs) personnel on September 27-28, 2022 at Malagos Garden Resort, Davao City.
The main objective of the activity is for the newly hired employees to gain awareness on gender sensitivity, to increase awareness on gender issues and biases resulting in gender inequalities and discrimination, to understand gender and STI, HIV, its existing laws that protect women and girls from abuse and violence, to understand the historical perspective of women’s oppression, the traditional stereotyped images of women and men’s roles and status in society, to come up with recommendations for interventions and affirmative programs of action and to have basic knowledge on Bawal Bastos Law.
Regional Director Alex C. Roldan, CESO V emphasized the importance of Gender Sensitivity Training among government employees during his message, highlighting the awareness on different issues and discrimination that are common in the workplace. Through these initiatives, a better way of understanding issues of diversity on sex and gender can be developed.
Moreover, LGOO III/HEA Armelyn A. Malila, MSSW talked about the mandatory conduct among newly hired employees to gain a better understanding and knowledge on the program which could gradually reduce gender issues, discrimination, and biases, particularly within the workplace. She also mentioned the importance of reiterating their learnings on good cultures, leadership, and proper values towards clients and colleagues in their respective offices. And lastly, she also emphasized that sharing personal values could contribute to the smooth operations within their offices and that may result in better individual accomplishments towards the goals and mission of the Department.
Ms. Pricilla M Senoc, HEPO III from the Davao City Health Office discussed thoroughly the Sensitization Agree or Disagree Values Clarification, Defining Sex and Gender History of Oppression of Women, Manifestation of Gender Biases Women Empowerment Sexuality and SOGIE, Sexually Transmitted Infection HIV and AIDS/Trends, The Journey of life, The Domino of HIV Infection, Gender and Self-Awareness, Highlights on RA 9262 Magna Carta on Women’s Rights.
All of these discussions are relevant as part of additional learnings and development of the DILG XI personnel. (A.Malila)
