The DILG XI, through the Project Development and Management Unit, conducted the Blended Seminar-Workshop on Geographic Information System: using QGIS on May 21-24, 2023 at The Grand Men Seng Hotel, Davao City.
It was participated by DILG Regional and Provincial Engineers and Civil Engineers from 24 local government units. 95 Civil Engineers from various LGUs, offices and other national government agencies also attended the seminar-workshop via Zoom.
Through this activity, the participants who are civil engineers, both face-to-face and virtual, were able to enhance their capabilities in the Geographic Information System. They also earned three (3) CPD units considering that the DILG XI is a CPD provider accredited by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) which is necessary for the renewal of their PRC licenses.
“I hope you will be able to understand basic Geographic Information System and utilize QGIS software and use these learnings in order to implement projects and to deliver services to your respective constituents,” DILG XI ARD Lailyn A. Ortiz said in her welcome message.
The topics were discussed by the resource speaker, Engr. Mary Jane R. Montemor, who is currently connected with The Royal Court of Bahrain as a Senior GIS Engineer. She graduated from the University of the Philippines-Diliman with the degree of BS in Geodetic Engineering. Before working in Bahrain, she was an Engineer III at the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA).
