The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) XI, as the vice-chair in disaster preparedness, actively participated in the recent two-day “Walk-the-Fault” activity. This event was held last September 24-25. 2024, in Brgy. Tamugan and Calinan, Davao City, and involved in collaboration with several member agencies of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) XI, including the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) XI, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) XI, and the Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).
The “Walk-the-Fault” activity aimed to raise awareness about fault lines and earthquake preparedness in the community, highlighting the importance of disaster risk reduction measures. Participants engaged in geotagging of the precise locations of the fault lines, conducted IEC orientation to the affected communities and set up various markers to better understand the risks and enhance community resilience. This initiative of the DILG XI reflects a strong commitment to improving disaster preparedness and response in the region.
