Strengthening VAW Protection at the Barangay Level!

Earlier today, April 22, 2025, DILG XI—through its Local Government Capacity Development Division (LGCDD)—successfully conducted an Online Orientation on the Operationalization of Barangay VAW Desks via Zoom.

The activity brought together Barangay VAW Desk Officers and C/MSWDOs from across Davao Region to equip them with a deeper understanding of laws protecting women and children.

ACP Arnold C. Abejaron of the Office of the City Prosecutor – Davao City discussed the salient features of RA 9262 (Anti-VAWC Law), the Safe Spaces Act, and the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act, highlighting the roles of local officials in combating gender-based violence.

Atty. Camille E. Flores, Assistant Division Chief of LGCDD-DILG XI, presented the Operationalization of Barangay VAW Desks, covering standard procedures, roles, and coordination mechanisms for handling VAW cases at the grassroots level.
