The three-day learning activity, which will run until September 4, 2025, is spearheaded by the Local Government Academy (LGA) in partnership with DILG Region XI. This Introductory Course is one of the major components of the NEO Plus Program (Newly-Elected Officials Program) of the LGA and DILG, designed to strengthen the leadership and governance capacities of local leaders at the onset of their term.

In his welcome remarks, Acting City Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte, represented by Acting Vice Mayor Alberto T. Ungab, emphasized the importance of continuous learning in ensuring responsive and effective local leadership. This was followed by the opening message of DILG XI Regional Director Abdullah V. Matalam, who reaffirmed the Departmentโs commitment to guiding and empowering new officials in advancing good governance and sustainable development.

The course primarily targets newly-elected local officials from across the region.
