International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT) for CY 2026
In observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT) 2026, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region XI, in partnership with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region XI and the University of Mindanao – Matina Campus, College of Criminal Justice Education, successfully launched the first leg of its series of educational and advocacy activities anchored on this year’s theme: “The World Drug Problem: Persisting Issues, New Challenges, Innovative Responses.”

The event convened students, educators, government partners, and community advocates to strengthen awareness and encourage active participation in the fight against illegal drugs through knowledge‑based and preventive approaches.
A key highlight was the Quiz Bowl on Republic Act No. 9165, where participating students demonstrated their grasp of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, related anti‑drug laws, and essential principles in drug prevention and enforcement. The competition fostered critical thinking and reinforced the importance of legal literacy among the youth — empowering them to serve as informed advocates for drug‑free communities.

Through these activities, IDADAIT 2026 reaffirmed the collective commitment of government institutions, academic partners, and the youth sector to confront persisting drug‑related challenges with innovative, collaborative, and sustainable responses.
