TURN-OVER CEREMONY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW DILG XI REGIONAL OFFICE BUILDING-PHASE 1

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) XI conducted a Turn-over Ceremony following the completion of the Phase 1 (Design and Build) of its new Regional Office Building on April 11, 2023 at the Regional Government Center Compound, Bago Oshiro, Tugbok District, Davao City.

The new Regional Office Building rose on the one-hectare land allocated for DILG XI with a total budget of Php60Million for the first phase of construction. The three-story building, having a total floor area of 3,535 square meters, will be utilized for various office spaces, conference rooms, LGRRC Library and Archive, Prayer/Counselling Room and Dormitory.

For the second phase of the building, the DILG XI hopes to have an allocation this year amounting to Php 35 Million and another Php 30 Million for the furniture, fixtures and equipment. And for the third phase which is the covered court amounting to Php 30 Million.

“We will strive this year to get additional budget for the Phases II and III of the construction. We also hope that we can bring the Local Government Academy here because decentralization requires better quality and skilled local government units,” DILG XI Regional Director Alex C. Roldan said.

The 3,557,376-sqm patrimonial land of the government was reserved for the Davao Regional Government Center (RGC) through the Presidential Proclamation No. 1354 signed by the former President Rodrigo Duterte.

“We can treat the Regional Center as a legacy of President Duterte – that he was able to provide this so that people will not scamper around the city and go through the difficult traffic to navigate different government entities,” DOST XI Assistant Regional Director Elsie Mae A. Solidum said.

Other facilities and amenities will also be constructed to ensure a convenient physical work environment and safety in the workplace such as guard house, covered court, and parking spaces. DOST XI ARD Solidum added that the DILG building is a show of force that the government is with conviction, stating our grounds in this property.

DILG XI RD Roldan thanked the people and employees who gave their best efforts for the completion of the first phase of the construction, including the FFJJ Construction and Infraworx Corporation.
