The DILG Davao Region and DILG-Bureau of Local Government Development (BLGD), in close collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA), successfully organized the Mindanao-wide Electronic Local Government Unit (eLGU) System Caravan on July 11, 2024, at the Ritz Hotel at Garden Oases, Bo. Obrero, Davao City.

The event enhanced the understanding and appreciation among cities and municipalities regarding the importance of automation, and ultimately, aimed at supporting the requirements of the Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Law through streamlined digital processes for more efficient and effective service delivery.

Represented by SP Member Diosdao Angelo R. Mahipus, Jr., Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte welcomed the Local Chief Executives, BPLOs, LGU IT Officers from across Mindanao, and dignitaries from the DILG, DICT, and ARTA.

Key officials from DILG including USEC Marlo L. Iringan, ASEC Josephine C. Leysa, ASEC Elizabeth De Leon, and Director Anna Liza F. Bonagua; DICT Director Rachel Ann P. Grabador; and ARTA Regional Chief Rhuello D. Aradanas, witnessed the highlight of the event: the ceremonial activation of the eLGU System by select Local Chief Executives, marking the beginning of its implementation across Mindanao.

Mayor Emerson L. Luego of Mabini, Davao de Oro, expressed his endorsement of the eLGU system and led the commitment signing.

The launch of the eLGU system represented a significant leap forward in utilizing technology for local governance, promising enhanced transparency and efficiency in government operations throughout Mindanao.
