Regional Disaster Preparedness Meeting
To assess the Disaster Preparedness capacity of the Davao Region, the Department of the Interior and Local Government XI – Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division convened with partner agencies last November 05, 2024, at The Grand Menseng Hotel, Davao City.
The activity was headed by the DILG XI-LGMED Chief Phillen C. Larrabaster, MPA, Planning Officer III Edgar V. Melo, and Regional Project Officer II Ralphkin T. Jimenez together with the DILG Provincial Offices of Davao Occidental, Davao del Sur, and Davao City. Select member agencies were assigned specific topics relative to the current situation of the region. Among these agencies were the DOST-PAGASA for localized weather outlook, NIA XI for DAM Inventory and Early Warning Protocols, BFP XI for Fire Safety Preparedness Protocols for Hydrometeorological-related operations, OCD XI for the La Niรฑa/Rainy Season Contingency Plans, MGB XI for Geohazards, CDRRMO Davao and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices for the LGUS Disaster Preparedness and Response, and the DILG Field Offices for the Enforcement of No Build Zone in High-Risk Areas.
Also present was the DSWD XI Regional Director, Atty. Vanessa B. Goc-ong, who shared her appreciation, insights, and recommendations to the committee as a close partner in disaster response operations.
The member agencies were requested to present their current preparations, activities, and plans in anticipation of weather disturbances this rainy season. The secretariat team also noted recommendations for the RDRRM Council’s additional agenda
